Sara Paradisi
Partner, International Arbitration
Sara Paradisi is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution team at Rosenblatt. She joined the firm in January 2024 to set up its international arbitration practice, alongside Leonardo Carpentieri.
Sara has advised on major projects across Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia, South Asia and South East Asia, with particular experience representing clients on oil & gas and petrochemical projects, thermal and gas-fired power plants, and offshore engineering projects. Her extensive experience in handling disputes related to the design, procurement and construction of major energy and infrastructure projects enables Sara to support clients with valuable commercial advice, helping them prevent and efficiently navigate disputes.
Sara acts as counsel and advocate in international arbitrations and has represented parties in arbitrations under the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, HKIAC Rules as well as UNCITRAL (ad hoc) and under the UK Arbitration Act 1996. She also regularly advises on the drafting of arbitration clauses in commercial and financial agreements.
Prior to joining Rosenblatt, Sara worked with an international law firm in London and Singapore. She regularly publishes articles, lectures in leading universities, and speaks at conferences.
Recent experience
- Counsel representing a Korean EPC contractor in ICC arbitration proceedings (Singapore seat) against one of its subcontractors arising out of a USD3.5bn crude flexibility project in the UAE. The claims related to significant additional costs incurred by the EPC contractor to either perform, or engage others to perform, part of the subcontractor’s scope of works.
- Counsel representing a major Japanese conglomerate in ICC arbitration proceedings (Singapore seat) concerning a pulp mill project in Vietnam, including advising on related court proceedings in Japan and Vietnam.
- Counsel in an LCIA arbitration concerning a piping subcontract package on a diesel fuel plant in the Caribbean. Defended main EPC contractor against claims for extensions of time and additional cost.
- Representing the Bulgarian subsidiary of a global energy company in a USD750m+ UNCITRAL arbitration (London seat) regarding the failure to properly design and build a lignite-fired power plant in Bulgaria.
- Representing the Spanish subsidiary of a major US-based energy company in ICC arbitration proceedings (seated in London) involving liability for the cost of carbon emission allowances under a long-term tolling agreement for production of electricity at a Spanish power plant.
