Leonardo Carpentieri
Partner, International Arbitration
Leonardo Carpentieri is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution team at Rosenblatt. He joined the firm in December 2023 in order to set up its international arbitration practice.
Leonardo is admitted to practise as Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales and as Avocat à la Cour in Paris, France. He has 14 years of experience working both in France and the UK in international arbitration proceedings relating to energy and infrastructure projects. His fields of expertise include the energy, oil and gas and construction sectors, in particular in the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
Leonardo represents clients in both investment treaty and commercial arbitration matters, before the major arbitration institutions including the ICC, LCIA, ICSID, UNCITRAL and the Milan Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his disputes experience, Leonardo also assists contractors for project support, from procurement to completion. He also advises on investment treaty planning in order to maximise the legal protections of foreign investors.
Prior to joining Rosenblatt, he worked with international law firms both in London and Paris. Leonardo regularly publishes articles, lectures in leading universities, and speaks at conferences on commercial and investment treaty arbitration.
Recent experience:
- Representing an Italian subcontractor in ICC arbitration deriving from construction works completed in Qatar in relation to a transport project.
- Representing a Turkish aluminium and glass contractor in ICC arbitration in a termination dispute relating to the supply of glazing material as part of a project located in the Middle East.
- Representing a major Nigerian oil company in ICC arbitration deriving from drilling contracts relating to an oil prospecting license and on oil mining license.
- Representing a European construction company in ICC arbitration in relation to a joint-venture dispute with a local entity following the award of four major construction projects in Qatar.
- Advising a major French nuclear power and renewable energy group in relation to a waste energy project in Northern France.
- Representing the State of Libya in parallel contractual and treaty-based ICC and OIC arbitration proceedings in relation to re-balancing claims and breach of investment protections in connection with a major water infrastructure project following the 2011 Arab Spring events.
