Jacques Domican-Bird
Associate, Dispute Resolution
Jacques is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution team at Rosenblatt. Jacques trained and qualified at a different London law firm in 2021, before joining Rosenblatt in 2022.
Jacques has advised on complex contract disputes, director and shareholders’ disputes, IP disputes and asset tracing, which have often involved several jurisdictions.
Jacques also has a keen interest in the development of artificial intelligence (“AI”), having read widely, attended a number of external events, and co-produced a growing catalogue of thought pieces on the topic. In particular, Jacques is interested in how the dynamic AI regulatory landscape will impact the disputes of tomorrow, considering the solutions which might follow, as well as how law firms themselves can utilise the versatile technology, successfully and safely.
Recent experience:
- Acting for the Respondent in an LCIA arbitration in relation to breaches of contract and termination provisions. Also advising on subsequent interim measures and proceeding stages throughout 2024.
- Acting for the Claimants in an ICC arbitration concerning breaches of contract and other equitable claims. The final hearing took place in November 2023. Also advising on subsequent proceeding stages throughout 2024.
- Acting for Claimants affected by a significant oil spill in the Niger Delta against an oil major in an extant appeal to the Supreme Court in March 2023.
- Acting for a Kuwaiti-based client by obtaining a High Court Norwich Pharmacal Order and Privacy Order against a bank to disclose a criminal’s accounts who defrauded the client of a significant sum.
- Advising a leisure trust client on their multi-million pound breakage cost and damages claims against two local authorities.
- Assisting a Middle Eastern media company in reaching a successful outcome in a significant licensing dispute in the sports sector.
- Advising a Spanish rolling stock manufacturer client in their successful claim against High Speed Two Ltd in relation to a procurement case.
